Ssangmun-dong Honamjip has been simmering Haemul Agujjim — Korea's fiery monkfish & seafood stew — for the neighborhood for years. Now we welcome travelers from around the world.
Tucked into a quiet corner of Ssangmun-dong, our kitchen has been serving Seoul locals honest, home-style Korean seafood for decades. The recipes come from Honam — the country's southwestern region famous for its bold, generous flavors.
Every pot of stew is built on fresh seafood, hand-mixed gochujang, aged soy, and time. Sit down, let the pot bubble in front of you, and taste what a real Seoul dinner feels like.

No experience needed. Follow the steps — and don't skip the last one.
Your pot arrives raw and cold. Let the burner do its work — 5 to 8 minutes — until everything is steaming and fragrant.
Use chopsticks to lift the seafood and toss the bean sprouts up through the red sauce. Every bite should be coated.
Grab a lettuce leaf, add rice, a piece of monkfish, and a dab of ssamjang. Wrap and eat in one bite — the greens cool the fire.
When most of the seafood is gone, ask for fried rice (볶음밥). Staff will fry rice, seaweed and sesame right in the leftover sauce. Trust us.
A quick guide for travelers, written by the people who work here every day.
Our menu has English descriptions and photos. Point, smile, and you're good.
We accept major credit cards and Korean cash. Tipping is not expected in Korea.
Ssangmun Station (Subway Line 4), Exit 2, then ~8 minutes on foot. Taxis know 쌍문동호남집.
One agujjim easily feeds 2–3 people with rice and banchan. Groups of 4+, reserve by phone.
Dishes are traditionally spicy but not painful. Ask for '덜 맵게' (less spicy) if you prefer.
Our menu is seafood-based. Not certified halal; please ask staff about specific ingredients.

"Best agujjim in Ssangmun. The monkfish is meaty, the sauce is deeply flavored — not just spicy. The fried rice at the end is a must."
"Found this place while staying near Ssangmun station. The staff were so kind and helped us with the menu in English. The seafood hotpot was incredible!"
"A neighborhood favorite for a reason. Generous portions, fresh seafood, and that legendary 'yagwanmun' broth. Feels like eating at a friend's house."
"Very authentic Korean spicy braised seafood. Bring friends — the portions are huge. Ask for less spicy if you're not used to Korean heat."
"23 years and still going strong. The haemuljjim brought me back to life after a long week. Owners treat regulars like family."
